Silent cinema is a rich and varied art form that dates back to the late 19th century. The first silent films were short, experimental films that were shown in vaudeville theaters. However, by the early 1910s, silent films had become a major form of entertainment, and they were being produced in all parts of the world.
The golden age of silent cinema was the 1920s, when some of the most iconic films in history were made, including The Birth of a Nation, Metropolis, and The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. These films were made by some of the greatest directors of all time, such as D.W. Griffith, Fritz Lang, and Robert Wiene.
Silent cinema came to an end in the late 1920s with the introduction of sound films. However, silent films have never been forgotten, and they continue to be enjoyed by audiences today. They are a valuable historical document, and they offer a unique aesthetic that is not possible with sound films.
